Helping Kids Reach Higher

STAR House Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Roswell, Georgia. We provide after-school tutoring and mentoring for at-risk children throughout North Fulton County. We currently serve children within three North Fulton schools, with a growing unmet need. Our summer camp is an extension of our after-school program, bridging the gap for elementary students by focusing on academic retention to combat summer learning loss. Providing this strong foundation gives local kids in need the opportunity to shoot for the stars!

Mission

STAR House Foundation enriches the community by promoting academic success and empowering lifelong achievement for children in need.

Vision

For all children to have support and the opportunity to succeed.

Statement on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity

As an organization with decades of experience working within marginalized communities, STAR House understands the importance of inclusiveness. We believe that including board members, staff, volunteers and students from all communities improves the learning environment and promotes excellence throughout the organization. We believe exposure to diversity of people, experiences and perspectives enriches understanding between students, staff, board and the entire community. STAR House is committed to actively maintaining an environment in which diversity, inclusion and equity are fundamental values. STAR House provides equal opportunity for board members, employees, applicants for employment, enrolled students, and student applicants, regardless of race, color, national origin, belief system, genetic information, veteran status, age, except where age is a bona fide occupational qualification, or disability, except where accommodation for a disability would cause undue hardship to the organization.

Then

STAR House opened in 1993 thanks to a group of Junior League volunteers who identified a growing need within North Fulton County. They identified 24 economically disadvantaged students in need of after-school supervision, tutoring and nutrition. From this discovery they launched programs providing Roswell’s vulnerable children with critical academic tutoring, snacks and guidance every day after school.

Now

Today we celebrate over 31 years of helping North Fulton’s children in need receive support to succeed in school, achieve nutritional balance and develop life-long skills. Presently we serve children in three Title I schools.

Tomorrow

STAR House is working to increase its number of budding scholars . We can accomplish this goal by adding STAR House academic year and summer camp programs to additional Title I schools in North Fulton County.

Real Impact

When our STAR House partners come in and work with our students, they don’t only work on academic skills. They promote social and emotional growth, build interpersonal skills and encourage goal-setting. Everything they do helps our kids become better citizens and become better prepared to contribute to our community.
